The ductless type of AC units is enjoying a surge in popularity as it has proven to be helpful in lowering energy consumption and this reducing the monthly bills. The units are also ideal for long-standing structures that cannot be fitted with extensive air ducts.
Don’t worry if you are not that familiar with this AC system. This guide will provide you with all of the information you need to decide whether or not it is the perfect fit for your needs.
Consider these three things and you should be able to come up with a suitable decision:
1. You might have heard about duct-free systems before without even realizing it. This is because they are also referred to by other names such as mini-split systems.
Unlike traditional AC designs which have everything in one unit, these are characterized by a separation of the compressor and the cooling sections. The condenser is situated outside of the room while the evaporator remains inside.
In this manner, the interiors enjoy cool temperatures without the loud noise of the more typical systems.
2. In many ways, the design is similar to the principle behind refrigerators. The latter uses a liquid called a refrigerant that goes through the system, first in the compressor and then in near the freezer.
The rapid expansion that occurs produces a powerful cooling effect on the coils. Heat exchange with the surrounding air warms up the coils anew and heats the liquid which then passes through the condenser.
The process continues indefinitely as long as there is a stimulus. Almost the same thing happens in ductless AC systems.
3. Now we come to the part that truly excites homeowners about the duct-free design: energy savings. The split system allows people to manage the temperature in each room separately. Centralized air conditioning forces one condition throughout the household whereas split types provide a greater degree of flexibility.
Every unit can be controlled through a remote device or through a timing mechanism. Those in empty rooms may be turned off while those in crowded rooms can be made to work harder.
The ability to manage each individual unit results in a much more efficient use of energy. In addition, this design does not have to contend with energy losses while air is going through the ducts.
