Most people will probably take an interest in the ARC-14S due to its promised portability which indeed works very well. However, its design is versatile enough to enable it to fit holes in the wall and dropped ceilings for longer usage.
Like many of the latest models, this unit has the ability to take care of the inevitable condensation when moisture from the air is cooled by the system. Water will not accumulate so the area around it will remain clean and dry.
Efficient cooling is done by drawing warm air from the room, extracting the heat, and blowing the byproduct to the outside through the exhaust hose. The design takes its cue from the more conventional window type systems. A dual hose configuration has been shown to increase air flow and lower the cost of cooling an area.
This particular model wears three hats. It can work as an air conditioner, a fan, and a dehumidifier. As a fan, it can operate on 4 levels of speed depending on the desired amount of air circulation.
The ARC-14S can handle up to 101 pints in a day when in dehumidifier mode. Meanwhile, the thermostat can be set to temperatures between 61F and 89F.
It is perfect for windows 36″ wide or a bit narrower. Fitting is easy thanks to the included install kit. Use the slide bar to adjust the unit to the right position. Along with this kit come two hoses that are 49″ in length as well as the parts necessary to secure them.
The user-friendly controls include an LCD display and intuitive buttons. Everything needed to adjust the settings for temperature, mode, fan speed, and more can be found here.
