I read some of the Haier 14 000 BTU portable air conditioner reviews and I was surprised to find that this unit claimed to require no vent. However, read the product description and you see that no vent is needed but an “exhauster kit” comes as a part of the package.
The Haier HPN14XHM 14, 000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner, 11, 000-BTU Portable Heater Combo Unit is a nice unit that comes with some great features. In particular, it has a built-in heater, multiple fan speeds, and is fairly easy to move from room to room. But don’t be fooled. All portable ac units need some sort of venting set up.
I feel that the manufacturers are trying to say that permanent vents are only needed for appliances such as tumble dryers. This air con system is not a permanent fixture, hence the “window exhausting kit” that is included in the package will suffice.
Look at it from all angles. The compressor generates hot air and that air must be pumped out of the room. Buy a Haier air con unit and you use the window exhaust kit instead of the traditional vent.
So, it stands to reason that you cannot buy a cooling unit that has no vent system.
People who want to buy a portable cooling unit that has no venting system must buy a small window air conditioner, a portable swamp cooler or a fan. Naturally, everyone has a different idea of the meaning of the word “portable”.
