How to Find the Best Window Air Conditioner Filters

Residential homes have used window air conditioner units for many years. These small and easily maneuverable units are great for placing in your window. They do not take up a lot of room as they sit snugly in the window.

A window air conditioning unit works just like a traditional air conditioner, but they are much more efficient, cost saving, and quiet. Each unit will come equipped with two different coils, one hot and one cold, followed by two fans.

When the unit is engaged, air is pulled in and blown over top of the coils by the fans. As the heat and humidity are removed from the room the result is a cool, humidity free room for you to enjoy.

Window air conditioner filters are present in window units and need to be cleaned. There are two types of filters. The first one is a small insert that is made from a fabric like material with holes in it. You can rinse it off and clean it to maintain the efficiency of your air conditioner.

Our favorite air conditioner filter is the 3M Filtrete Air Conditioner Filter, 15-Inch by 24-Inch (9808-12). It does a great job at cleaning out impurities and dust. It also removes any cooking or pet odors that might be lingering in your home. Plus, they’re cheap!

The other type of window air conditioner filters are disposable ones like the Duck Brand 1285234 Replacement Air Conditioner Foam Filter, 24-Inch by 15-Inch by 1/4-Inch, 1-Pack. These are cheap and easy to use.

To be able to determine how much space one single unit can cover, you will need to look at the BTU of the unit. BTU stands for British Thermal Unit and the larger the room, the higher number of BTU you need to have. Choosing the wrong size unit for a room can result in a room that is too cold or too warm.

One of the biggest benefits of window units is their energy efficiency ratio. This number will tell you how efficiently your unit can turn electricity into cold air. The higher your EER number, the more efficient the unit will be. This also means that it will be light on your pocketbook.

One thing to consider, however, is the fact that a higher EER will save you money on your electricity bill but it will cost you more upfront to purchase the unit. Choosing wisely and setting a budget for your unit is one way to ensure that you do not overspend but you get the unit you want and need to cool your room.

An air conditioning unit for your window is much more affordable than your traditional home air conditioners. They operate cheaply and they cost a considerable amount less to purchase making them an ideal choice for cooling and maintaining your home.

Window units make a great investment for average sized rooms such as a den or bedroom. They are not too heavy which makes them a viable option for many homes. These units are able to be placed in the window securely and hold there without any risk of falling out. The units can be removed from the windows when they are no longer needed or not in use. Air conditioning window units will save you money and cool your home efficiently.
